Somewhere between the two, Perspection is born.

How It All Began

Perspection started with a dream Crystal carried for more than fourteen years before bringing the brand to life: to create a spirits brand of her own.

Before creating a bottle, she wanted to understand what made one memorable. What shaped its flavor? What gave a brand meaning? What kept people curious?

That curiosity led Crystal and Roger to create The Liquor Connoisseur, a platform dedicated to making spirits approachable through education, conversation, and discovery.

Through conversations with distillers, bartenders, founders, blenders, and craftspeople, they discovered the stories and decisions behind the spirits they enjoyed.

Those experiences helped shape Perspection: a brand that pairs unexpected flavors with an invitation to pause, connect, and see something differently.

What Perspection Means

The meeting place between perception and perspective.

Perception is how we experience the world through our own journey. Perspective expands when we pause, listen, and consider someone else's experience.

We call that opening a Moment of Perspection.

It may begin with a question, a shared story, a moment of reflection, or an unexpected discovery. What matters is the willingness to stay curious.

Our Distilling Partner

GB Distillers

Our spirits are crafted in partnership with Gravesande Braxton Distillers, known as GB Distillers, in Wheatley Heights, New York. Founded by Vanessa Braxton, this African American woman-owned distillery brings together hands-on spirits production, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to building a lasting family legacy.

For Perspection, GB Distillers is where our vision takes liquid form. Under Vanessa's direction, our Strawberry Coconut Vodka and Apple Crisp Gin become expressions of the curiosity and discovery at the heart of our brand.

Engineer. Entrepreneur. Pioneer in American Spirits.

Behind Perspection's Strawberry Coconut Vodka and Apple Crisp Gin is Vanessa Braxton, our Master Distiller and Master Blender. The founder of Black Momma Vodka and Gravesande Braxton Distillers, Vanessa brings technical expertise, creative vision, and hands-on craftsmanship to the spirits that carry our name.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Vanessa built her first career in engineering and construction, managing more than $350 million in contracts for New York State government before turning her attention to spirits. Her journey brings together an engineer's understanding of process and a distiller's appreciation for flavor.

Vanessa has been recognized by New York State proclamation as the first African American woman Master Distiller and Master Blender in the United States. As the owner of her distillery and manufacturing facility, she has built a business grounded in craft, independence, and a legacy for future generations.

You may also recognize her as a guest judge on Discovery's Moonshiners: Master Distiller, where she brought her vodka expertise to the judging table to evaluate the work of fellow distillers.

For Perspection, her contribution is personal: Vanessa is the maker behind the spirits we share with you. Our collaboration brings our vision into the glass—an invitation to pause intentionally, explore flavor, and appreciate the people and craftsmanship behind each pour.

Before you take your first sip, Perspection invites you to see differently.

Graphic designer Alissa Braxton translated our vision into hand-drawn label artwork and the distinctive FoxSwan identity. A University of Florida graphic design graduate, Alissa brought our ideas about perspective and duality to life through an illustration that rewards curiosity.

Working from our creative brief and a conversation about the heart of Perspection, she created artwork with details waiting to be discovered. A fox. A swan. A face, a heart, and flowers woven into the label. What catches your eye first—and what do you notice when you look again?

That second look reflects the heart of Perspection: an intentional pause to notice more, consider another perspective, and stay present in the experience.

Alissa's creativity helped give our philosophy a visual language. Her work makes "See Spirits Differently" something you can experience before the bottle is even opened.
